Erm, About your piece,
The background looks adequately okay, especially the clouds. Though the castle seems alittle too ‘plain’. Though good effort to make it straight and all, but you may want to give it a more interesting perspective to the castle, say…changing the to a ‘low angle shot’ (Google it if you’re not sure) of the castle instead. =)

Though one thing which seriously puzzles me is your character’s position. Nice sword and armor though, ^^ but the character’s pose is quite a ‘turn off’. Is there a strong significance to back up the character’s reason of having his back facing the audience? (If your say your character is ‘walking’ to somewhere, all the more it looks weird.)
Sorry for being harsh here, but to me, it’s like you ‘drew’ a character in your piece and yet, you ‘don’t want to express and show’ your character to the audience.
In short, your piece’s composition is ‘not there’, and more like a ‘candid’ shot of your character.

For this, you may want to study alittle on ‘the rule of thirds’ even though it’s more for photography, it helps alot in terms of composition. Take a look at more works from other artists involving characters as well neh. ^__^

All in all, i’d say good effort! ^____^!!

Arh well, having this position of *Back face viewers* was my intention, this work was from a block in my short manga strip, which I wish to emphasize on, and suppose to be a prologue for one of my stories. I rarely do fanart, and when I do, the characters will be facing the viewers, obviously.

To me, I dislike the background(Too plain) and Lance actually(Too monster hunter like).
